I have been reticent to call myself an optimist. Or even someone who is hopeful. It seems so…cheesy somehow. And definitely naive, right? At the very least, it seems dismissive of real problems.
And yet, I have come to believe that if we don’t have at least some optimism or hope, then we tend to be either apathetic or angry, and rarely do either of those result in long-lasting, thoughtful, and meaningful change.
It wasn’t until I read this quote from Adam Grant that I understood why this kind of optimism isn’t cheesy at all, and in fact, underpins the whole philosophy behind Earth’s Next Chapter. Thanks Adam!
