We’re heading off the planet this weekend, with a picture NASA released in the last few days from Mars.
These pictures were taken by NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter, (NASA has a helicopter on Mars?!), and shows some of the debris from the equipment that helped the Perseverance Rover land last year.
I find it fascinating that photos, (more than any other media) make us feel like what we’re looking at is just around the corner as opposed to around 150 million miles away (at the moment).
The distance between Earth and Mars varies from about 34 million miles apart to 250 million miles, depending on where we each are in our orbit. The next time Earth comes pretty close to Mars (relatively speaking!) is in December this year (~38 million miles).
For more on the Mars helicopter and the details in these pictures, head to NASA’s web-release.
Now is it just me or is anyone else thinking "litter-bug"?
