Here's my ripple for the week. I've started walking precincts with Sierra Club endorsed candidates for local office. Many people I speak with have strong values and are aware of the dangers we face in the current political climate. But often they are uninformed about the mechanics of elections, like when early voting starts, how to check to make sure they're registered, that the current election is not a primary for county offices, etc. When people become aware that there is a surge of strong environmental candidates seeking office in east Tennessee, they become much more excited about voting. Hope you can join me on a walk.
Oh wow Kent - that sounds amazing! Love this ripple effect! :-) Which reminds me, I should absolutely write a post about where to find information on candidates in the run up to elections. The Sierra Club is a great one, and I know the League of Women Voters produces factual, unbiased info too.
Here's a list of our endorsed candidates in the Knox County election. It's from the website of our local Sierra Club group. Thanks, Anne, for spreading it around.
